Microsoft Announces $10 Zune Music Pass; Also Available in Canada

Microsoft’s Zune service may not be as popular as Spotify, Rdio, and MOG, but it is still there and the company is trying to keep it more appealing and widely available.

For those in the United States, they can enjoy the new $10-per-month Zune Music Pass. The service is similar to the existing $15-a-month plan, but users no longer get to keep 10 free MP3s monthly. Microsoft has also brought the Zune Marketplace and Zune Pass to Canada. Windows Phone owners in Canada can enjoy these new services as they open on October 3, with the Zune Pass costing C$9.99 a month or C$99.90 a year.

Another big change is that Zune Music Pass subscribers in both countries can stream tens of thousands of music videos through the Zune PC software. This streaming service will also be available soon in Xbox 360.
The Zune services provides access to more than 14 million tracks from all major music labels, as well as thousands of independent labels. Apart from Windows Phones, subscribers can also listen to Xbox 360, Windows PC, Zune device, and Zune.net.
